She did not have an easy or comfortable life, being the wife of a carpenter in the town of Nazareth, in a country invaded by the Empire; as a wife, she had to face the early death of Joseph; as a mother, she suffered the immense pain of seeing her son unjustly condemned to the Cross. Nor was the journey of her faith an easy one: to make the step from Judaism to believing in her son as the Son of God. It is in her that Nazaria asks us to draw inspiration: in a woman full of strength and trust in God, who encouraged the early community to take an essential step: to be the bearer of Jesus’ message among her own people, to be a mission.
