Called to co-responsibility
In recent times, we have been reflecting and deepening our understanding of the importance of shared mission in the Church and even more so within a religious family. This is not simply an agreed objective, it is a collective purpose and way of proceeding that transcends the individual.
The shared mission understood as embracing the construction of a more just and supportive society, without limiting oneself to a specific task, but broadening horizons from the call to serve, accompany and transform reality from the spirituality and charism that we have inherited from Saint Nazaria, being living witnesses of the Gospel in action-contemplation. St. Nazaria dreamed of the Total Work as a great family, that is to say, ‘all eating at the same table’.
This journey is not without its challenges; we need to encourage active listening, promoting a space of trust where differences become strengths. We can understand this transformation not only externally, but from the heart of those who participate in it, reminding us that we are part of something much bigger than each other. Pope Francis reminds us that: ‘we are all co-responsible for the mission, we participate and live in the communion of the Church’, ‘we are not the sum of a few baptised, but the “We” of the Church’. Faced with this invitation, we can ask ourselves: Do I feel co-responsible for this beautiful mission?
