The service of authority
There are many services and ministries in our missionary life and in each identity of the Total Work. Each service or ministry is important for the body to be one and for the mission of proclamation to be carried out. The service of authority is key for the charism to be present and actualized in the present day of our history, just at the moment when our XVI General Chapter is taking place. But why not leadership instead of authority? Being a leader today for the mission.
Leadership is based on discovering and collaborating with the current of love that runs through life, aware that it is expressed through persons and events, and that it brings us all closer to the horizon of fraternity.
We should ask ourselves about the leadership of Saint Nazaria. She had the skills of a leader: totally passionate about following Jesus and extending his Kingdom of justice, dignity; she possessed deep motivations that gave her great energy, inner freedom, personal criteria to orient herself at crossroads, energy to choose, self-knowledge and prudence, ability to mobilize people, ability to accompany them in their growth, confidence to delegate to them… risk-taker, courageous; an impressive ability to convince and drag with her way of living; with a great ability to inspire others. Her strength and charisma offered answers to the challenges of society and moved many to follow her way of doing and we could follow.
This is the leadership that we ask the Spirit for the service of authority in our missionary family. ¡Born to evangelize!
