YORO (HONDURAS).
I carry out my mission in the Our Lord of Esquipulas Parish in Victoria.
This is a very interesting mission, since the Parish at a pastoral level is divided into seven sectors with quite a distance from each other, it also makes it difficult for the roads to be dirt roads and not so in good condition.
For Holy Week we have been more than anything accompanying the people directing spiritual retreats in each sector, in addition, giving talks of the Easter triduum in an active presence giving participation to the laity, especially delegates of the word of God, catechesis, liturgy, among other areas.
We, as a community, had the opportunity to accompany the entire Holy Week. It was to update our experience of the paschal mysteries, walking together with the people suffering from the pandemic; misery and the high cost of living and basic services; the political disenchantment of having been used, unfulfilled promises… This suffering of a people tired of so many lies, has been illuminated by the Lord who walks with us, who gives us life, hope, joy, peace.
It is a new experience, after two years of confinement due to the pandemic. It is like living again and updating life, it has helped me a lot because, in addition to being my people where I was born, they are very simple people, accustomed to the warm welcome of others, in solidarity, kindness. Therefore, with great joy I express that it is a great experience of God, which means a great spiritual lesson on a personal level.
