The life of Jesus and his followers, from the beginning of his mission, took the form of itinerancy. The Lord invites his disciples to walk with him, literally, not figuratively. Accompaniment was born, as a way of understanding the Christian life.
Pope Francis urges: “that the Church be the mother of all and that she live the art of accompaniment, which is characterized by the delicacy with which it approaches the sacred land of the other.” It brings this term to the fore in all areas of pastoral, youth, family …
He always insists on the importance of the processes, of “raising and accompanying, not imposing routes.” And in two qualities necessary to accompany: respectful and compassionate listening. Also patience before the times of the individual and the ways of grace in him.
It is an absolutely necessary reality since we live in a world of virtual, unknown relationships. We have never been so communicated and, possibly, there have never been so many problems of loneliness.
In this joint-stock company, the Church has to offer an opportunity to weave personal, real relationships with face and heart. The different places of Mission of the Province of Spain in the extension of their Whole Project:
- Schools,
- Spirituality Centers,
- Parishes,
- House for the elderly,
- Youth Residences.
All of them in their responsibility to promote the accompaniment in their different realities are, without a doubt, areas in which different spaces are offered from where human relationships can be woven and in which we stop being anonymous.
