In 2019 catechesis began with several young people and children, this process of forming them in the faith, a journey in which together with their parents we began, with joy, enthusiasm and availability.
We are in Calama – Chile, a city that has a population of various nationalities: Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Chile. The young people entered with enthusiasm and persevered in their sacramental preparation, but as we know we are all living in a constant fight against COVID, so that it was not something we expected and it took us by surprise, because we were affected in many ways, As for the families of the young people, we had to accompany them in many ways and looking for mutual help, and that life goes on and the needs also, therefore, our accompaniment was made palpable from the gospel with concrete facts with their families, already that some of them lost a loved one.
Within this whole theme and experience of COVID, we resumed the formation of catechesis, being in person, hugging them and listening to their experiences online and how it went. I considered it a great gift, to be able to share every minute with them again, and to give thanks to God, because we were still able to share and in the end the long-awaited sacrament, Confirmation, took shape with firmness and conviction. But of course this is only the beginning of the journey along the path of faith, but they have already taken another step in their lives.
