Bafoussam and Bamendjou, Cameroon

The journey from the coastal region to the west of Cameroon is always full of magic. To travel the path that leads to the mountains of the bamilike country is to follow a path surrounded by dense, variant and diverse vegetation in just a few kilometers. The landscape is fascinating due to the contrast of colors where all the ranges of green, the red of the earth, the white conical roofs of the concessions and the intense blue of the sky are mixed.

It is in this framework that the communities of Bafoussam and Bamendjou carry out their missionary task.

In Bamendjou the mission is carried out in educational ministry, health care and the Word. The sisters carry out a Vocational Training College that has the branches of: Cutting, Sewing and Clothing Industry; Automotive Mechanics and Construction; in addition, to provide the middle and higher grade of general education.

Next door is the Catholic Dispensary, which cares for the sick through medical consultations, cures and outpatient surgical operations; in addition to monitoring maternity.

The sisters support the pastoral care of the Word in the mission posts and chapels of the surrounding towns.

For its part, in the city of Bafoussam, the formation mission for the novices of the Congo and Cameroon is developed. The Superior General and her Councilor visited these communities in the last week of October. With great joy they note the generous dedication of the sisters to the mission, which is not exempt from difficulties and problems, from questions about the future. Again, it only remains to say “thank you, Lord, for what you allow through our sisters, because, like a stained glass window, they let your light pass through”.

Everything is in the seed. Shoots, leaves, trunk, roots, flowers, maybe even fruit. Or we may have to say: "The seed is everything." But it needs more elements, just as we need others, to become what we are. Time, land, water, light... It is about the slow learning to...
