Puerto Rico (Pando, Bolivia)
It is not always easy, but it is always from God: to encourage the faith of the surrounding communities, to train the catechists, to maintain the motivation of the pastoral agents.
There are dozens of villages around Puerto Rico, almost all far from the road, surrounded by the dense vegetation of the jungle. The hours that the communities can allocate to evangelization are almost always at night, so you have to spend the night there. The hospitality of the animators makes it possible for the message of faith to make its way.
This task must be made to coincide with teaching in a public school, the administration of the parish and catechesis in the two barracks that exist in the place. Sisters Martha Vásquez and Mariel Canaviri have carried out this mission with generosity and dedication. These days, H. María de los Ángeles Martín, assigned to this community, has joined them.
This mission with an Amazonian face received a canonical visit from the Superior General, M. María Joaquina Lozano, and her counselor, H. Alejandra González, from July 20 to 26, who confirmed the generous dedication of the sisters of the mission and the numerous missionary challenges that arise. Therefore: forward, always forward!
