KARRANTZA (SPAIN)

The Crusader Missionaries of the Church arrived in Karrantza (Viscaya) in 1966 responding to the needs of the place. The first mission was the Santa Ana home school, attended by girls from all over the municipality who today remember their childhood as their happiest years.

Later, they transformed the house into a boarding school for young people with difficulties in accessing schooling, either because of the distance or because of the lack of financial means.

In the 1990s, the house was transformed into a center for Angolan migrant children, as was in demand at the time. In 2003 the boarding school for girls closed definitively and the building made room for youth camps and a spirituality center, in an ideal setting of silence and nature.

Recently, the mission was to welcome, train and help Latin American women who, given the situation in their countries, are separated from their loved ones and come to seek a better future.

The community cannot continue responding, although the house remains open to respond to new projects, this time under the care of the Basque Government.

    SEEDS

Everything is in the seed. Shoots, leaves, trunk, roots, flowers, maybe even fruit. Or we may have to say: "The seed is everything." But it needs more elements, just as we need others, to become what we are. Time, land, water, light... It is about the slow learning to...
