M. María Joaquina Lozano, General Superior, has visited the community of older sisters in Granada (Spain), which has been so painfully touched by the pandemic in recent months. While there, she has oriented the end of the year retreat to the community.
The grace that invited us to ask is the internal knowledge of so much good received, so fully recognizing, in everything to love and serve …
Contemplation is an exercise to “see” everywhere God who “embraces us in his love and praise”; to achieve the grace to discover reality, history, life itself, daily events … everything, in its deepest dimension: traversed by the dynamism of Love.
She invited to live gratitude as the memory of the heart. Going back to see how God has saved us, walking the path – with heart and mind – with memory … to discover how God has accompanied me.
Not just in the past, but discover how God is with us every day. He came into the world as a child comes into the world, weak and fragile, so that we can embrace our frailties with tenderness. And to discover something important: as in Bethlehem, also with us God wants to do great things through our poverty. Discover on this day, how God acts from my weakness, my sin and my weakness. Accept how, from the Lord’s hand, in our limitations, which are our weaknesses, “the strength of Christ” is manifested.
The same Creator and Lord also disposes us to serve him in the best possible way from now on. Our response will be the total surrender to “love and serve” God in our brothers and sisters.
May the same hope and desire for more love that the sisters had, motivate us to love and serve more.
